Daiwa T3/Ito 103m spool ...

Post by jpd0144 » Sun Sep 08, 2013 9:02 am

Ok here I go with the " Daiwa rookie " questions ... ](*,)

Will the Daiwa T3 RCS 1016 spool fit the ito 103m ?

If so has anyone tried it in the Ito to see if it slows down the spool start up speed for say casting lures in the 1/4 to 3/8 oz. range making it a lil more manageable ?

If im way off base please dont throw the stones too hard please ... :lol:

Thanks for the help ...

Jeff

i've tried it and it works fine, i've tried the t3 spool on my steez too and it works just the same. i do notice the start up is faster than in the t3 frame but much more manageable. I was throwing 3/8oz spinnerbaits no problem.

JDP,

Yes, to it will fit.

The RCS 101x's (black 1012 stock in T3's, red 1016 RCS aftermarket spool) fit into the TDZ 10x (x not equal to 0) platform.

I have a RCS 1016 in a TDZ 103H - very manageable for your weight range IMO. I know because I have used it in that weight range.

(PS - I still got some of those Zoom special run Ultravibe speed craws)

The stock spool in the T3 is a 1016, not a 1012

I thought so ... When I ordered it I had read it was 1016 ... However , what is the difference between 1016 and 1012 ?

Ito and spool on the way for delivery this week ! Im like a kid waiting on Christmas morning ! \:D/

Ito is tuned/polished by Ian , carbontex, 6.3:1 brass gears, and abec 7's for spool bearings.

Ordered 1016 and abec 7 for spool also ...

Hope the Ito dont get too marked up as it is going into rotation as a daily fisher.

Yep, ty is right; I had the #'s backwards.

I think the 1016 has little less line capacity, but I could be wrong on that. A simple check of line capacities on them would clear it up.

1016 = 100m of 16 lb test mono
1012 = 100m of 12 lb test mono
1010 = 100m of 10 lb test mono

going by the information shared here, that T31016/1012/1010 spools fit the Td ito. Does that mean TD-ito 103 has the option of fitting in either a T3 SV or Steez SV spool?

to my knowledge, yes.

I know all Steez and TD-Z (not counting the TD-Z 100) are interchangeable. T3 spools will fit in a Steez or TD-Z without mods, but a Steez/TD-Z spool won't go into a T3 without some minor mods to the T3.

thanks for sharing. I was so in awe with the T3SV casting versatility that am considering to get a SV spool for the Td-ito. I found the gigas spool on the ito a bit too wild and temperamental to my liking. Have set my eye on the Steez SV spool but it seems the steez version costs 30% higher than the T3 SV spool. Glad to know i have alternatives.

Just an FYI,

Plat lists the Steez SV spool at 11.8 gm and the T3 (1000 series) at 13.5 gm so something's contributing 1.7 gm to the T3 version. I was thinking the same thing (buy the T3 version cause it's $30 cheaper and fits all), but now I'm revisiting that thought. I'd like to find out specifically where the difference is.

I received the SV 105 spool last week. I swap the spool onto the TD-ito 103 and went out to a pond for some casts. It is now less finicky in casting compare to the stock ito spool. I could cast lighter weight lure consistently without paying extra attention on the thumb control. What I was disappointed was that I couldn't get the distance I would expect from casting the SV1000 spool in T3 SV. Somehow I forgot to bring the SV1000 spool as my main intention was to test the stock Ito spool vs SV 105 spool.

Back at home later, when I inspect the two spool for visual difference, I realised they have different size bearing attached to the spool. SV 1000 spool has a 5x11x4 bearing (IDxODxW) while SV 105 spool has 3x10x4 bearing concealed in a separate aluminium casing much like the zillion HLC spool I have. I suspect the bigger SS bearing on SV1000 spool actually contribute to the slight weight over the SV105 spool.

Whether the spool bearing design is the contributing factor to the casting characteristics is still subject to further testing. One thing I have yet to confirm is whether they have different inductor design.
