Another suggestion - how about posting or linking this sticky in the Shimano forum? that way Bantam1 can look things over and maybe verify or add data of his own :D
I presume you added the weight of the 50E spool?
It's interesting to see how Avail's measure of the Aldebaran spool (9.9g) is different to the 50E's (11.3g)
Perhaps different materials? Or perhaps the difference is in fact the weight of the SVS unit... hmm...

yes that was me... i should've noted myself as the source. and yes i also notice some discrepancies with published spool weight, not just on Avail's site but other mfrs too :-# :)

i just assume any variation is due to accuracy of the scale but with regards to comparing Aldebaran vs USDM equivalent i think the Core 50 spool would be closer in weight to the Aldebaran. the 50E spool i'm guessing is a different alloy or same but not as thin-walled as the higher-end models as the reason for the weight difference...?

Good points you make.

Well if you've got your own numbers to challenge what's already in the spreadsheet, feel free to do so. Good stuff.

I'm betting Avail removed the VBS from the Aldebaran on their weights. Both my spools on the Core50 and Aldebaran MG7 weigh in at 11grams with VBS attached. My Chronarch D7 spool weighs 12grams with VBS. Just a thought.

i do believe you're right, as i came across this notation for the Metanium spool weight:

※ 純正スプールの重量は、SVSのブレーキユニットを含まれていない重量です。
SVSが付いている場合の重量は 11.4 g になります。

that does explain some of the more significant discrepancies w/ stock spool weights...

Hey,
I don't see it listed, but has anyone tried to fit an aftermarket spool with a Curado 100D?? Thanks. :big grin:
