Help! I need an Ito Alphas drag star!

Post by Redlinerobert » Tue Jul 31, 2007 10:33 am

Hey guys,

I sent out my reel to get painted and the knuckle heads at the shop lost the dragstar. I need a replacement. Does not have to be the drilled version, if I could get it though that would be great. What drag star would work on this reel and where can I get it quickly? Thanks guys!

I don´t see why a Sol drag star won´t work on the Alphas. the only thing that could be different aside from the drilling would be the thread. ( milimetric vs English ).

Why don't you see if the I'ZE factory steeze handle and drag star fit. It would be costly, but would look sweet on a Alphas Ito.
BTW what color and why did you paint it?

I was going to have the reel anodized at first to match my "fire" finish Abel pliers. Because of the fact that the reel housing is cast and not machined, that was a no go. Then I tried to get the housing painted. The local shop said they could do it, and then they said it was too much work...in the process they lost the drag star.

Don't call Daiwa, call or email Megabass USA instead. Apparently, from my last email correspondence with then, the Alphas Ito Ai can still be bought through Megabass USA. I suspect that they might stock spares as well. Give it a go. Good luck.

could be pretty hard to locate a new Ai drag star, as for most limited edition daiwa reels certain "distinguishing" parts are almost never sold separately, even when the reel is still available.

here's the schematic for the ito Alphas... notice part #88 is grayed-out and cannot be ordered:

Ai schematic

and with the Ai out of production, you're best bet might be thru a classifieds post on this site. or you can always go with the star from the stock alphas or F version.

and IIRC the TDZ star and variants will not fit on the alphas. an alternative that *might* fit would be the forged star from the CVZ line...
