Drag upgrade for TD-Z's

Post by Doc Smallie » Wed Feb 07, 2007 5:35 pm

Does anyone know if there is an "aftermarket" drag upgrade for a basic Daiwa TD-Z?

Check out smoothdrag.com for the Carbontex Washers (Carbon Fiber Washers). Order the Daiwa Baitcaster Set #1 for TD-Z. I suggest also ordering their Cal's Grease and very lightly coat both sides of the washers. ;)

Thanks for the information y'all. Next question ... can a novice install a set of Carbontex without too much difficulty or is this something better left for someone who has done it a time or two (D.R.)?

Easy as pie. Check out the maintenance section on TackleTour. They have lots of diagrams and instructions for various reels. They don't have one for the TD-Z, but the two articles concerning the Sol/Alphas maintenance and Curado drag upgrade will be extremely helpful. :D

It's not all that hard if you take you time and use the schematics that came with your reel.

Here is a link to a Carbontex upgrade on the Daiwa Alphas baitcaster. The TD-Z upgrade will be basically the same, just a different reel.

BassPro, my hat off, extremely helpful and very well documented to the point of being a tutorial.
