Found my new favorite setup for specks
During the coronapanic I social distanced to St Mark's Florida and had a blast, but as the saying goes you have to pay to play. Mid cast my beloved St Croix legend inshore decided to snap in half. During this time St Croix wasn't answering the phone for warranty claims, so I found a great deal on an edge rods inshore rod. Fast forward 5 weeks and I went back with it to St Mark's. It performed beautifully and I love the rods handle, it definitely grips better than cork with fish slime on it. Also figured out I actually prefer my tw1516 to my coastal sv, the type r inductor spring may change my mind though.

Great looking setup! I’ve always been intrigued by the Edge rods and have almost pulled the trigger multiple times on new and/or used rods.
Just very happy with my Zbones (love those X-ray blanks) and finally realizing more is not always better.
Are you using the Castaway line still?

Which model of Edge rod? I don't fish salt water, but one of mine is an inshore rod, love it.

I use the castaway on my coastal sv, the tw1516 has jbraid grand on it. I originally used my kistler klx in the salt but I didn't like the rust that formed on the hook keeper etc. It's the isr693, med-lite power, extra fast.

Got the job done with my dad for father's day, no Gators but good nonetheless especially for inshore fishing in June. My dad hadn't been inshore fishing seriously in over 20 years.

Did you get a custom zbone or is it one of their off the shelf builds? I want to revisit the castaway when my type r spring for my coastal sv gets in, the reel didn't have good distance casting so we'll see if this does the trick.

It was off the shelf, but I haven’t seen it online. 7’3” Medium/Mod Fast. And a 7’3” MH Mod Fast. Gosh those rods are amazing. Also a 7’ Med Light Mod Fast spinning. Yeah, I like a slower action.
The Castaway is working really good on the spinning. For bait casting I’m using mono for top water. I may branch out this year for more than just that.

Yeah, it's weird they only list a lite mh, mh, and a h online for the zbone. There is a 7'3 ml x-ray blank that nfc makes that I'm seriously debating getting a custom build with.
