Trevala S rod uses

Post by NormanD » Sat May 30, 2015 2:01 am

So, I know that the Trevala S rods were designed with the Butterfly jigs in mind, but I have seen them used for other purposes. I was thinking that they might make a nice light weight rod to flyline live bait from a kayak. Has anyone used these rods and have any feedback?

Thanks.

I have one, the XXL and I think it would work for you. The "S" versions have really light, soft tips compared to the other versions of the Trevala. Actually, I was quite surprised by the softness of these rods. Though rated to 75 grams, I thought my jigs would overwhelm the rod. But they don't and it works. Catching fish on the rod is fun. Caught some nice cabs and lings on it last year and felt they would tear the rod apart. I also have a buddy who fly lines squid and anchovies on this rod for white sea bass and has no problems hauling them in.
