Southern California Bassers

Post by Sarcasticat » Sat Sep 14, 2013 9:35 am

Are there any dedicated southern California Bassers on this forum?
I know that some of you around here enjoy the thrill of saltwater bass, and I would like to know what your setups are.
Really all I do is pitch and cast some small plastics for spotted bay bass on a 7 6 mh ethos with a lexa.
I feel that I'm missing a lot by not using spinnerbaits.

Mix and match multiple rods and reels but generally they range from 12 to 30 lb test for bait & plastics. I fish multiple charters in Ventura targeting shallow water calico bass and what else comes along.

12# Shimano Crucial 7'11" H [older model] with a Shimano curado 300eg
15# Phenix [new] 926L with a Daiwa lexa 300
20# Shimano terez waxwing 8'H with a Shimano curado300dsv
30# Calstar 700M with a Daiwa saltiga 30
25# Phenix 808mh with a Penn fathom 25N or Progear 545.
as needed
10# Powell diesel 7'2"MH [with 6" handle extended] and Abu Garcia revo 50

i try to keep it light as possible. if u flipping pilings a mh fast with a 3/8oz jig head is money. 12lb fluoro leader to not break off, drag set to 3-4lbs. and u shouldnt loose too many fish.

i fish a medium in cover/structure and a light with 6lb test in open water. havent fished for spotties in a while but thats my preference
