Thats my hobby. It's an awesome experience, in the west coast many times you come home empty handied, but hey thats surf fishing. I find myself having a lot of fun casting the metal back and forth. When you do get that strike theres no other feeling like it (unless you won lotto). Bass, stripper fishing is extremely fun however some level of excitment is lost because you do know what your reeling in. Of course that excitement lost is made up by your second, third and fourth bass caught. In surf fishing its rare to get your 2nd unless you come by a school which does leave you feeling in dust waitng several hours for that strike that you may never get. Surf fishing leaves it to your imagination lets you guessing what your fighting until you pull up that shark, ray, red snapper,stripper,lincod.etc.etc.etc.

Surf fishing tends to be different in Florida but I enjoy it very much. I guess unlike California if you time the tides and time of the year just right you can really kill (heheh) some fish. The bluefish runs, pompano runs. Even tarpon at times. I throw jetty fishing into the surf fishing catagory and there you get a lot of snook, reds, seatrout, whiting... its a blast and does not entail a $30,000 boat being towed behind you.

Check out these serious poppers:

While a little big for stripers they should work, but are designed to tackle Giant Trevally, Red Bass, Grouper and all Palegics.

Whoa sorta larger than normal, looks great nice finish. Aren't those poppers like 7-10 inches?. Looks like I would have a blast tossing those. I'd even hang it on an evolution 8 if i had one.

surf fishing is defianatley my favorite form of fishing. the spring run of stripers here in half moon bay california is the most fun you'll ever have. when they run thick you dont even need to bother lookin at your tide book because it really doesnt matter. i feel spoiled telling people all ihave to do is walk down the street to fish stripers in the spring(and perch year-round). theres no other feeling in the world like hookin into one of those stripers in the surf and then carrrying it down the street(plus my neighbors do think im crazy anymore!) its defianatley an experience.
