what size spinning reel for mojo surf 10ft medium rod?

Okay everyone... what size spinning reel should i mate my 10 ft mojo medium spinning rod to? I've been looking at shimano 4000-5000 size reels and would like to know what will be better fit and balance. I will mainly use this for casting plugs. thanks fellas.

I'd recommend something in the 12-15oz range for that particular rod. The newer magnesium framed 4000-5000 sized Shimanos might work, however I prefer something heavier. I'd try to find the previous model Sustain FE or Stradic FI in those sizes.

For 10ft surf rod, 6000 size would be perfect. If U can handle some heavy gear, I would go 8000 size.
I have these similar setup for surf fishing when I feel like going after some sharks.

I have a Stradic FJ 4000 on my 10ft surf rod, absolutely love it. I don't like big bulky reels, so the smaller profile works great.

A Stradic FJ in the 5000 size is hard to beat. You'll get enough line capacity and the reel is absolutely perfect for plugging. I feel like the balance with a 5000 is better for me personally when I'm plugging.

I read on another forum that stratic 4000 and 5000 are basically the same reel but the 5000 has a bigger spool. It said you could put a 5000 spool on a 4000, but you had to use the 5000 knob with it.
