albacore tuna fishing 8/2, 8/3 from a small boat

Weather forecast calls for FLAT and Calm seas.
Took advantage of that and decided to take a 17' montauk, Boston Whaler out.
We filled the tank up (24 gallons) and brought along an additional 24 gallons by jerry cans and got our tuna lures ready.
Water was smooth as glass and no wind ALL DAY.

We luanched out of half moon bay at 4:30 am on saturday. We also had another buddy that had his 17' montauk running with us.
Headed towards the 601 spot, but we stopped short and decided to fish at 02/49. Water temp at that spot was already 60 degrees.

We had a total of 8 hits and boated 7 fish. The method we used is Trolling. We ran 4 lines out with various different color zuker (feathers or clones) and also some cedar plugs.
Total time on the water was 14 hours.
Burn rate was 35 to 38 gallons used.

Must of been about 7 to 8 small 17' whalers out there today.
Its fun fishing on a small whaler when the ocean conditions are right.

Went to pioneer canyon.
