Salmon fishing (7/27)

It was bound to happen sooner or later. Reports came in about a close in bite for salmon along the marin coast. Everybody ran to the closer numbers and by sunday the bite was slow. Saw stick boats (commercial salmon boats) working the area.

We tried for a couple of hours and nothing. We decided to run further northwest of our spot. Saw stick boats there last week and we knew that the bite was dead after they left. We tried anyways and caught our limits, but had to work for them.

Today I even heard of a whale breathing. I was to busy concentrating on netting a fish at the time to look up or around. But, it sounded real close !

Next weekend if seas are good will be tuna fishing.
