What is your opinion on the better reel.. I think the stella is better I have one and it is awsome.. The only thing that is better about the Van Staal is that it can go under water and never get ruined it is made for surf fisherman.

Totally agree. Stella all the way. The Van Staal is a great reel if the sealed drag is your number one concern, but if you want more refinement and a reel that can be more flexible the Stella is the right choice.

I think the Van Staal's actually don't feel that smooth, strong yes, but not refined. They sure are good converstaion pieces though.
