fun little fish.

Post by Oolie » Mon May 07, 2007 7:02 pm

i've been deep into the night fishing recently, and i cought this nice shortfin corvina from shore, got it on my little shark setup, a turner's californian 7' med heavy rod and a cardiff 400 minus the levelwind, 50 pound spiderwire on the reel to keep the drags in check, that's also so i can use this reel to chuck surface iron.

the fish went 6lb 11oz

i also ended up with a few more that night in the 3 pound range.
and a 4.5 pounder the night before, sammys and poppers were good producers, wade out to mid shin depth, cast as far as you can, one twitch, and pause for a minute, and they fly out of the water when they hit it.

but they also hit poppers in inches of water as well.

also landed a few small guitar sharks, which are pound for pound much stronger than the corvina.

good times
