Daiwa ITO Steez rendition!

Post by Fishing4Fun » Fri Oct 04, 2019 8:30 pm

Well after a bit of trial and error it finally appears to be done! This project started off when I sourced a few painted Steez side plates in ITO green from TT member Dan D. Thanks Dan! He couldn’t recall what Steez model they fit. Not knowing if it was the 7:1 or higher ratio or the 6:3 ratio I knew it would be a guessing game. They have slightly different gear box sizes so it was not a sure fire thing rather a 50/50 shot. I bought a MB IS 73 from TT member Dexter to try first. Thanks Dexter! Lastly I needed some Mb knobs so I traded with TT member Goldrod. Thanks Goldrod! Fingers were crossed it would all come together. After a few bumps in the road and lengthy texts with TT member Hoohoorjoo I think it is all sorted out. You can see the striking resemblance to the MB IS Lariat Green. TackleTour is truly a great place. Thanks to all that helped make this possible!

My favorite reels, are the ones that took the longest to put together.

Great work! Glad I could help. 8-)
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

The model you replicated was the 25th anniversary IS supposedly only 25 made. Your #25-1/2 looks awesome.

I personally owned one of those 25. I can say it does look fantastic. I was always worried about fishing it for that reason.

where did u get the red line guard?? Is it from an actual IS or did you get it anodized?

Absolutely gorgeous btw.
