Superb

The OGZ rides on. That is beautiful and I'm loving the drag star

That is very nicely done sir! =D>

Question...whats the difference of the 50th drag star to the OG? They look the same to me. Same with the CCC.??

Very nicely done GCW. Can you give a spool weight for the 1010? TIA

I mentioned the drag star because for me it was nostalgic and typically people put on a big type R drag star.

I do believe that both the OG and 50th drag stars are the same

Thanks for the feedback.

I plan to use it for 1/4 oz jigs on Erie for big smallmouth.

If I remember correctly the 1010 weighs about 15 g with bearing. It is not an "Air-light" spool by any means.

The 50th drag star and tension knob are more silver than stock Zillion drag stars and tension knobs. I tried to show the more silverness of the 50th in the pic attached where I put the stock star next to the handle (again, not the best photography using a phone..). The Coastal is a lighter silver reel also compared to typical Zillions.

Very nice. Looks like an excellent job to me. Pictures aren't bad either. My phone has more pixels than my old Digital SLR.

I went to pull my 50th and stock Zillion so I could compare drag star and tension knob colors...but no dice. I had forgotten my stock Zillion is all red on that end. Guess it isn't stock. :big grin:

Ah yes. More of a billet finish than chrome. Very nice touch.

We see so much bling on here that it can get old. I like your build. My custom rods are super simple builds, so I did something similar to one of the 7.1 reels in my OG Zillion fleet.
Gunmetal Type-R star
Gunmetal DIY spool with no holes
No bedazzlers
Gunmetal Nut and Plate
New Zillion handle with Super-high Grip knobs and four bearings
Level wind bearing
Carbontex drag
ZR spool bearings
I need to take off the anodizing on the bumpers for my last mod.

The 50th star has an aluminum collar that makes it much lighter the original OG star. That and the non-brass handle spindles are the main ways that the 50th saved weight over the OG.

I have another question, for those that have pulled the "bedazzlers" out. How did you do it?

Bedazzler removal is pretty simple, just be careful not to scratch the bottom of the pits or the sides.

You simply take a smallish size worm hook, an old dull one you don't care about anymore, one with a needle tip (not like Owners), straighten it up a little and use the tip to flick the little bedazzlers up and out by getting in between the outside of the bedazzlers and the cylindrical walls. There is just enough clearance to get them lifted up and out. A safety pin would also probably work.

They are not glued in there very firmly, just enough glue to keep them down. If I can do it anyone can.

I have not removed the more numerous smaller bedazzlers on the handle side sideplates. That may be next. Of my four non-JDream Zillions all four have them removed from on top.
