New Finesse Setup

Post by rockchalk06 » Thu May 11, 2017 10:51 pm

After a bunch of deciding on spinning vs casting for my needs, I settled on this set up. Thanks for everyone's input and help with this. Much appreciated. :big grin:

Rod:
G. Loomis GLX852c JWR

Reel:
Shimano Metanium MG7 V2
Mods:
BFS Yumeya black spool
Brass D7 gears
CarbonTex Drag
Met 16 96mm handle
ZPI bearing x2 (Still waiting on this to arrive)

Took her out in the yard and started with a 2" senko and VMC wacky hook. Took a few casts to get it dialed in, but ended up being able to send that senko a good 30 yards on each cast. I had a ton of thumb on that spool as I live in a development and it was blowing like hell out due to pre storm conditions. I am impressed! I spooled it up with #8 FC Sniper. Pictures show it pre-spooling though.

Anything lighter, and I will go the Spinning Reel route. How much improvement will I see using the ZPI's? I have used ZR's for a couple of years and love them, but was told these may be the better route.

Very nice.

I have that same spool on my Metanium 13, I love it.
Its not to shallow and its not to deep, its perfect.

I agree. I was able to get 70 plus yards of 8# FC Sniper on it.
