Sunfish!
We all love catching sunfish, Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass included, but sometimes, catching a few of these is a blast too, especially on light tackle!

Re: Sunfish!
Had no idea green sunfish existed, cool looking specimen! I have had some good times casting baby crankbaits for gills and crappie. The crickhop slays 'em
Re: Sunfish!
Nice bullgill!
Re: Sunfish!
Beautiful fish, and that's one chubby bluegill!! Always a blast catching a few of those on some ultralight tackle.
Re: Sunfish!

Holy smokes Gary, those fish have been on ped's for quite some time!
Re: Sunfish!
All sunfish are cool. My kid's love to wear em' out on plastics.
Lake Havasu has world record red-ear sunfish that look like dark hubcaps in the water. They eat four inch tubes with no problem. I stop to catch one occasionally when I see one that is two pounds or heavier on a bed. My best is probably about 3.5 pounds. My friend's have accidentally caught them over 5 lbs. in bass tournaments.
I haven't fly-lined sunfish for big bass on private lakes since I was a kid. It's hard to look at a sunfish as anything but bait once you have caught big bass on them. Our public waters would be empty if they could be used as live bait.

That gill has a pack of franks on his forehead.
Re: Sunfish!
You can tell by the size of that gill's black spot - he is on roids.
