It's Been Quite A While...

Post by reelblues » Sat Apr 29, 2017 11:32 pm

Brothers, it's been a few years since I last attended a meeting. My name is Reelblues. I'm a tackle addict. I was 5 or 6 years sober, but recently fell off the wagon, which is why I'm back at a meeting. I was doing good, I sold most of my addiction off. Then I hit a bump, a small one. I bought some Dobyns rods and suddenly had the urge to keep a painted TDZ I was going to sell because the blue reel matched the blue rod accents so well. Of course, I had to have a new spool, so I found ( sounds like it was hiding in the bushes ) a type R spool and made a combo. I know, you say that barely qualifies as getting high. I know, but when you have been off the sauce for a while, even a small hit feels soooo good.

That is just a brilliantly executed and darn sexy outfit! 8-)

The TDZ almost looks like a Personal Order mixed with the parts from a Zillion Coastal. The rod looks sharp with the blue grips as well. Guess you could just remove it if you don't care for it and the original corks would match the cork handle.

I would have a hard time selling that beauty of a reel too!

Pretty sure every member that contributes to the "Show and Tell" section is in need of "Therapy" 8-[

Should have mentioned the reel was painted and upgraded by ZPI in Japan a long time ago. A few members and I sent TDZ's over
to be painted with Personal Order colors. Ian Shields added the Zillion parts. It probably would look better with the cork to match the knobs, but I have decided to finally fish with this reel (after many years of sitting on the shelf) on this setup and I prefer non cork handles. This was my first experiment with the shrink wrap and it was super easy. We'll see how I like it on the lake next week.

Nice to see another brother wrap his cork, even though I'm a rod
wrap man. Your tdz makes me wish I'd finished mine.

I love it partially because I have a very similarly custom painted blue TDZ reel which is also mounted on a Dobyns Champion rod. It is not quite as stunning as yours, but I always get a smile on my face anytime I pick up that combination. I'm betting that you do too :P :P

Yea, I had to go raise a daughter for a little bit, a activity slightly more expensive than fishing :crying:
