Phoenix Works Custom JDM Alphas Type F

Post by Gulfcoastwader » Sat Apr 29, 2017 9:44 am

PWC Prototype

- Pixy spool with custom spacers (made by a member to remain anonymous)
- Black JDM TDX Air Metal line guide (inspired by tripleillusion's endeavor)
- Carbontex drag stack (dry)
- ABEC 7 ceramics - BOCA old style black ceramic bearings
- RCS corks on an Alphas ITO handle
- Levelwind bearing upgrade
- ZPI grease - soft
- MET-OIL

Buttery smooth. The line guide required some frame-modding but was well worth it and makes the reel stand out. I learned a few things as I went along that will enable me to get that modification done even better next time.

A TD-Z/TD-X line guide always changes the face of a reel dramatically, that looks great!

Looks great! Why that line guide over a TDZ style?

Simply the matching color to maintain the minimal aesthetics. I may switch it over to the gold TDZ down the road.

I thought the TDZ-lineguide won´t fit to the Alphas platform :-k

Technically the TDZ line guide doesn't drop in. But, with some careful shaving of the frame (metal removal) it will.

I thought I saw some other souped up Alphas on here before also modified and able to fit the oval line guides. Now I cannot seem to find them.
