First fish of the year

Post by Tokugawa » Sun Feb 26, 2017 7:26 am

Went out for a couple hours yesterday (Saturday). The temperatures were in the 60s for several days, but a big front moved through Friday night. It was snowing with temperatures dropping from 70 on Friday to about 40 when I got out. THAT is a recipe for big mammas stuck to warm things (rocks, timber, etc). Didn't fail. Only got three, but they got bigger as they went...

A 2 lb chuck bit a Shading-X...

A 3lb fish took a black and blue jig...

Then she hit with one sweet tick when the jig was on the fall...

The 777 Record Breaker is a sweet rod BTW. Definitely a keeper. :big grin:

Nice fishies Tok, funny how us guys up north are so anxious to get out that we'll brave just about anything for that first
tick on our line! Nice job! 8-)

I was triggered by those upsidedown reels. I think i'm going to need a safe space.
