After a productive kingfishing season with my old man I've re-discovered my love for round reels. Like many of us my journey with baitcasting gear began with round reels, a gifted to me abu something or other and shortly there after I bought my first ever reel with my own money, a Calcutta 250. I was around 13 or so at the time. While doing my usual cruising of the ol' bay I stumbled on a daiwa luna 253 that was bnib and a good bit below retail and I had to have it. So here I am, with my entry into the heavy metal club. I've yet to fish the reel as It was just dropped off by ups-clause an hour ago, but I will say that initial impressions are great, and I can't wait to pick a rod to mount her on and take her for a spin.

And my other rounders that have served me so well this season.

So I ended up going with the e6x 903mbr because I don't have to $$$ to replace the nrx 893c that was stolen from me and I can confidently say that I love the rod. It's perfect for bombing weighted soft plastics over the flats and still accurate enough to nail casts around bridge pilings, docks, mangroves and the like. For the freshwater afflicted of us I could see this rod being a great all rounder when a little bit of extra length is needed. I wouldn't want to throw any subsurface treble hooked baits with it, the action is just a bit to fast, however I could see it doing well for walk the dog style baits in a pinch. My apologies if this should have been posted elsewhere. Feel free to move the post to the proper thread if need be.

Quite nice LR! That is one of the only JDM Orichi XX rods I have seen posted on here. A very impressive pairing ;)

Yup, that's the one. They're not the easiest rod to get a hold of and are not covered through Megabass USA warranty. A guy's really gotta like red I guess. In my case I did it for the Mars so it would have a matching red pal.

Don't know! The season here is coming to an end so I may have to wait until next year to try it out. The rod is an extreme mission type f, so I imagine it'll be a super versatile combo that can do bottom contact as well as moving baits.
