It appears to be the same bit with lots of porting. The inductor might be thicker but I can't tell in the pics. The old TD Zillion Ray's long cast had the standard Ray's polished gold inductor all the spools used at the time. My Tatula CT Ray's long cast has the thicker black inductor.toddmc wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 11:14 amDoes the newer ported TD Zillion Ray's spool fish similar to the old non-ported one that I have? I don't like ported spools, but I almost bought one when I bought a PE long cast spool lately. Like most people, I love the old non-ported Ray's TD Zillion spool.

I love this platform and years ago I acquired a few 103H’s. Got out of fishing for a few years and getting back into it. Cleaned up this one, cleaned and flushed bearings, did a Carbontex upgrade, Zaion drag star and Tatula 90mm handle assembly with OG Zillion handle nut, blacked out HH studios retainer.
Clean, simple, functional.

The TDZ and TD Fuegos do make great medium power moving bait reels. There are so many great spools that you can put in them. The TDZ 6.3 brass gears in my TD Fuegos are especially smooth for winding anything. I have a TD Fuego with spool spacers and a 34 mm Ray's Studio HLC spool that I changed the inductor to the standard orange Ray's SV one. Winding a half ounce bladed jig on the TDZ 6.3 gears is about as good as it gets. The same reel does great with light cranks like a Baby 1 Minus. My other TD Fuego has the 36 mm Ray's non-perforated SV spool, and it is just as good, but with a little less line capacity.

No doubt about it. Often over looked by the newer platforms. This one has an Ian tuned TDZ 105 spool and 8# copoly. It checks all the boxes for me for medium(ish) moving baits. The spool has great control and distance for the few baits I have tested with it the one day this spring I have been able to get out.

Are your fish biting? I drove an hour and half south near Kansas just to hopefully find fish shallow only to have to resort to winter fishing bottom hopping a bitsy bug.Fishing4Fun wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 9:54 amNo doubt about it.
