Use a Steez or Zillion (Type R is awesome) star if you want a swept handle. There is Zaion star that should work as well, but I can't remember which reel it comes off of... Maybe Tatula Type R v1.

The only thing hard to find for TDZs are nose pieces in good shape.

Tatula HD handle 100mm looks nice, that is what I have done. With a handle spacer , you can even make the original star drag work. I changed 2 star drags on td-itos to red R+ stars to add a little bling . I bought some nose pieces ($11.23), and tatula HD handles($20) . They are available from the Tackle Trap..........YYYYEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHH GARY!!!!!!!!

They finally got nose pieces in stock? Last time I talked to Gary he wasn't sure he would be able to source then from Daiwa again. I will have to order a few.

Yep. I ordered 2 nose plates not long ago to have on hand just in case. Any of the Zaion or plastic drag stars will work on the Tdz with the addition of a swept handle. Most drag stars off the Zillion / 103, Alphas / 105, Steez / SS SV are interchangeable and will work with the Tdz. Daiwa is just plain fun 8-)

I'm just going to start painting the nose pieces  Seems every reel I fish the plating ends up peeling off quickly.

What would be the best to use if I want to clear coat the nose piece plating?

I have no idea. You cant get very thick on it or else it wont fit properly. The last one I played with I lightly sanded the chrome off and shot with a few coats of flat black spray paint...the paint is lasting longer than the chrome plating

Does this count even though its a USDM? Found ne a nice Fuego, added 50th handle with Megabass Hyper corks, Hedgehog Studio ZR bearings, Carbon drag, worm gear bearing, Tatula Zion drag star, and Zillion Type R spool.
