Beautiful reel. I'd like it more if it had a carbon side plate rather than the pebbled leather. But that's just me.

I agree! it is still a great looking reel but black carbon fiber would look 100% better. but im sure there are plenty of people who disagree so to each their own :D

Being a tribute to the original 100XR, the vinyl side plate fits. A few variants have the Carbon Fibre finish.

My brain hurts. I thought these things weren't being made anymore and that they would stop haunting me.. but they won't go away??? Do I have to buy one to make it stop?

Yup. He can continue to stuff his pockets with my money.

I know that the platform hasn't really changed in like forever except the higher gear ratio since the HG68 and it's just cosmetics, but I cant help myself...

They're beautiful reels, I have just about all of them. At some point, it's time to get off the bus. I'm off the bus.

Gambler arrived today to complete the family
Beautiful reel indeed, but...the Viola still reigns supreme IMHO.
HG68 is still the darkest, and closest to black out of the Monoblocks.
The Gambler is a unique color, in that the gold under-coat (anodizing) causes the top layer to have a slight dark olive green-ish tint. Very unique indeed.
I included one shot of the three darkest Blocks for color comparison. Hopefully it helps put things into perspective.

Gotta wonder when the variant craze ends...too many and they become less "speciale".

I'm in it for the long haul, but...I have to agree. Time for something new in terms of a different platform. They've beaten this horse long enough. They are at 10 total right now...perfect time to end the series.
