MG7 atop NRX 873CCR

Post by rockchalk06 » Fri Aug 07, 2015 8:32 am

I may have found the perfect 3/8 oz jig dragging machine.

Dressed out Metanium MG7 with gold Hedgehog accents, Hawgtech 94mm handle, Winn knobs atop my new NRX 873CCR.

It's not the handle. It's the nut retainer that looks like a saucepan.

It is big, but I really like it.

I like the handle but not the nut retainer. I have owned three Hawgtech Handles and I have no problem with them as far as an acctractive and affordable handle but the nut retainer has got to go and I am not the only person that feels this way

Good looking setup :D

+1 on the gold nut retainer being a bit ugly. Handles and everything from Hawgtech is top notch.

I have that same stick except it's got a D7 on it. Awesome combo. I love it for 3/8-3/4 oz jigs. It's a bad dude!

I just picked up a Megabass IS79 Ultimate Competition that I may be trying it on as well. If nothing else, I will throw the MG7 back on it. If I could get a reasonably priced D7 or even a D5 (Have Core Brass 7 gears installed) I would use it for sure. Its on my bucket list of reels.

I had been using a Champion for my 3/8 oz Jigs but wasn't 100% happy with it due to its sensitivity. It actually kept me from throwing 3/8 ox Jigs and instead throwing 1/2 oz. Since picking up this 873, I have ordered 50 3/8 oz heads to starting tying Jigs. :big grin:

I am almost sure someone once said that the nut retainers from the Revo's were a good fit for the Hawg Tech's.

Anybody try the Hedgehog Studios retainers? Considering that they are slit where the screw is?

Fit but are fugly because the retainer angle just doesn't work.

What do you mean by slit? Are you talking about the ones that are made by Avail cause the ones that I have are not slit.

The ones I have for my Zillions are slit. I don't know who they are made by honestly.
