Very impressive fish! Glad the rod is working out and holding up well to the giants.

What an awesome fish and rod. (Please tell me you don't actually keep trophy fish like that...)

Oh no, absolutely not. It was actually more rewarding releasing her alive and well. I did get her length/girth (28 long and 20 1/4 girth) for the replica! Im sure G's comment was just a figure of speech... Follow the link to see the release vid!

I don't get why people want to keep a fish these days. People can make some amazing replica mounts with just the pictures and measurements. :-k

Great fish!

Great fish!
I agree! What I find suprising is how common it seems to be here in TX. Maybe not common but I see enough folks say they kept a lunker to either eat or mount that it definitely seems that way. The people I hear keep them are usually bass fisherman to. Makes more sense if it were a crappie guy fishing for dinner but hooked a hawg by accident!

Just because its legal doesnt make it right.

*edit* my above observations are based off discussions I see on a TX forum... so, as with all things forum related, take it with a grain of salt!

Hell no, never have kept a trophy fish, back into the water. That said they're always with me. Should have worded that better.
