Nice! I'm a Shimano guy but this Daiwa definitely has my attention. I used to fish both (Shimano & Daiwa) but decided to go with a single brand so I sold all my Daiwa's except the original purple Alphas. It was my favorite Daiwa so I'm thinking about looking into getting this new version.

The pictures on Japan Tackle don't do it justice. That looks really nice!
I'm counting on a lot of reviews from you guys buying these to decide if I "need" one. I decided to get the Zonda 68 instead, as they are getting harder to find every week.

Sharp setup =D>

If you have a gram scale, I'd be interested to know the weight of the spool.

Seconded. Also, verify that they are the same dimensions as the OG Alphas platform and could be drop in upgrades.

Thanks in advance.

Do you guys know if that SV spool the same orange SV 105 spool? I don't really need another reel but it seems like the reel is a bargain considering the SV spools sells for $125.

Most likely they are similar performance and capacity wise, but have slightly different widths and diameters. Hopefully it will be confirmed in this thread by the OP soon.

I was getting 13 to 14 grams on my cheap scale with the bearing on

Cool. Do you happen to have an old model Alphas to see if the SV spool fits in them?
