Pimping a Classic...Daiwa Tournament SS700

Post by hobobob » Fri Feb 20, 2015 11:54 am

For while now, I have been wanting to do some upgrade on the classic daiwa SS tournament. That tiny hard handle knob is one of my pet peeve on this classic. Thanks to fellow member SPAZ, I was able to pickup a basszone handle for it. It was a gamble since I don't know if handle would fit such a classic reel. What do you know, it fit perfectly.

I even sneaked a little Shimano goodness. luckily it did not combusted spontaneously. Can't wait till the ice melt so I can try it out this crappie season. :big grin:

You put a handle on it worth much more than the reel. You sir deserve a TT honorable mention! =D> The handle on my SS700 is in need of replacement also.

:big grin: isn't it why we are here on TT? Actually I am still ahead by $10. Next step is to find enough clearance on the rotor to put in some tungsten putty to get the rotor to archive some sort of balance.

A classic for sure. These reels are tank tested tough! I wish I would have kept a few of my originals.

Thanks for pimping out my first spinning reel. Now I have to make a trip out to my parents attic to look for mine. :!:
