Destroy and Conquer

Post by IAY » Tue Sep 23, 2014 8:59 am

My first high end round reel today. After consulting with many TT forum users, I decided to purchase the new Conquest 2014 to go with my F6-72X4 Destruction. I also decided to purchase my first right handed reel, after the video and discussion I had on previous thread I started. http://forums.tackletour.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=59579

Mounted on the F6-72X4.

Managed a little outing towards the evening. I am extremely surprised by how comfortable I can throw the bigger baits. I fished for 2 hours at a local lake, and I felt tireless with the set up. The rod was paired with Chronarch 201E6 before, and it was extremely uncomfortable to fish for any substantial amount of time, because I felt so stressed lunging +2 oz baits with the reel. Since I never owned a left handed round reel before, I cannot efficiently comment on how I feel about casting with right handed reel with my right hand, but this set up feels amazing. I still don't feel comfortable twitching the rod with my left hand, but that should come with time.

Thanks for reading TT. Next time, I will hopefully submit one with the fish on it!

Outstanding setup! Looks like a smooth transition and the advice of many great members on here paid off!

That's a sick reel to make a sick combo!

Looking good! What sort of line do you have on there? My Conquest is still looking for a job and I wouldn't hate being able to use it for big baits.

Really really crap picture this time.

Managed to catch a 17 inch fish on Jackall Kawashi Mikey 140 Ghost Gill. I still haven't had any +2 oz bait bite yet, but that will hopefully change. The line I am using is P-Line CXX 17lb, which the 200 holds little bit under 100 yards of. I still want to test out how light I can go with the swimbait set ups; I will definitely try some .37 mm Monos and maybe even 16 pound fluorocarbon. I will see how brave I get.

*Edit: Fixed the resolution so you can actually see the picture.

Very nice reel! I used to use 17# CXX for my Swimbaits as well. My favorite was always a MattLures floating hardgill

I think I made a mistake getting the 3:16 Baby Wake Trout instead of a floating or sinking gill. Only colored swimbait I really get hits on is some sort of gill color :/.

Conquests ROCK!

The 300 coming next year should be a beast for big baits for sure.

FWIW, I like 17lb CXX for all my swimbaits as well since I don't go bigger than about 4oz.
