NYC Fishing

Post by haoz » Mon Jun 02, 2014 12:24 pm

Being a tropical guy my entire life, this past winter shrank the size of my balls.

Now's time to warm them up with some fish!

My wife & her first fluke

weird birthmark on her first fluke.. =D

Then there's me with a keeper fluke

Took a walk by the river today.. Couldn't resist bringing out my Rushburn and do some casting. Got results within first 10 casts.
The results?

In case you're wondering, set-up used:
Rod: Poison Glorious 172H Rushburn
Reel: Exsence DC
Lure: Exsence Silent Assasin OM-140F

That's me with the fish

Nice pics and tackle :) Did you turn heads when you let the Exsense DC sing?

well, there was this passer-by. He came over to congratulate me on my fish. He went on to tell me about his fishing gear - chronachs and some shimano rods.

I told him my set up is Shimano too, and he was like, 'No, I've never seen these.' Had to explain to him that the rod and reel are for the JDM mostly, and quite tricky to source for.

He did a few casts and was so impressed. I had to write down my set up for him on a piece of paper. :big grin: :big grin:

IDk what are you looking for, and I've been checking out the tackle stores here in the various boroughs. Nothing in the conventional/spinning tackle stores that I fancy.

There is a fly tackle store in mid-town Manhatten that is really decent and which sells some really decent stuff.

I restocked on some of my lures from here:

Based on my experiences, Keitech swim impact rubber lures work really well here across many saltwater species. Whats tricky is mating the lure with the right weight due to ever changing currents.

This is good for Megabass stuff:

For the passer-by's sake, I hope you did not include this web address!
