At first I thought it was the more than PE SV, but I am not disappointed. Beautiful reel.
What does that trigger-like piece do?

That reel is gorgeous. I was wondering the same thing about the trigger. I think it allows backreeling, but not 100% sure.

Nice reel! I believe this reel is designed for ISO fishing, and the "trigger" is for break.

Are going fishing for luderick.
Re: Brannie
Wow! Absolutely gorgeous!
I really want to procure the current Gen MagSeal Daiwa TD Ignis Type R...but since Daiwa will not confirm servicing the MagSeal reels here in the U.S.!

Thanks mates. This article gives a pretty detailed explanation about LBD reel in English.

I was doing ISO fishing before lure fishing and had used LB reel but it's like 10 years ago. I'd love to try how these reels improve.
IMO it would be useful when using long seabass rod fishing rocky shore so it would be similar to the ISO technique, and fighting fish around structures and pontoons which gives you more control. It think it is pretty similar to using baitcasters, which I usually set the drag lower and use my thumb to apply more pressure when needed. In LBD, the thumb becomes the index finger.
In other normal situations, it's more a gimmick, I agree. I read the new Daiwa LBD pages and Daiwa stated that it would be easier to feed line to allow the lure sink/sink with the current. You could of course do this with all spinning reels but you just need to use the other hand to open the bail arm. You may say it's gimmick.

Re: Brannie
I have the same concern and I asked my local store yesterday. He said that this new Magseal would be more water-proof and it's assumed that these reels do not need service (or at least not as frequently as previous models) and Daiwa do not want you or any local store to touch the internals yourself. He did ask Daiwa if the new magseal bearings would be sold as part during the Japanese tackle show and the answer was NO. So if anything goes wrong, the reel needs to be shipped back to Daiwa Japan for service. Lets see how it goes in long term of use.dragon1 wrote:Wow! Absolutely gorgeous!

I am glad the rod is working well for you, Ben. Beautiful combo. I have mine paired with the 2510R-PE.kakaryan wrote:Blooded the Morrie.
