Am curious, because I want to get my own, and am oscilating between this and the Hedgehog ported one(the Hedgehog seems to have very little line capacity, and would lean towards this one)
The SVS hub adds 1g +/- to the total moving mass. The bearing on the spool is negligent.
Remove the side cover cap and spin the spool, you'll see that with the spool spinning at high speed, that tiny bearing is moving so slowly it's almost not in play. More of there to support the end of the spool shaft.
The bearing on the spool and the other on the brake side are the ones doing the work at casting.

Nice job :big grin:

I love the xg platform and at times wish I could slow it down. Looks like I might drop in some core 51 gears.

Ive had deez guys for going on 10 years or so. They have both have been super fun! They both have took some shots (along with me) and kept on ticking!

The presso has been my work horse and has way more trips to the river than the 51s.

Daiwa Presso
Shimano Conquest 51s
OG BFS!

Budget BFS

Curado 51
Avail microcast 915
Ceramic hybrid abec 5

Holds a cast and some change of 15lb powerpro and is an absolute blast to fish with. It's my first BFS type reel and I'm already planning for another, lol.

Here is my BFS combo. T3 Air with EX100XS handle and BFS Air bearings matched to a NRX852C rod. I may have just found a way to add the sweet SV spool to this reel. :big grin: My first JDM purchase. Stand by for details.

Finally finished my BFS "machine"

Aldebaran BFS, with Steez handle and SLP yellow knobs
Avail Gold - Honeycomb spool, tension knob, and star drag
And to top it all - 6.2:1 bronze gear ratio :D

I definitely didn't expect this to weigh just 148g, but I'm not complaining :D.

It casts like nothing else out there. I've had both the Daiwa T3 Air and the Abu Revo LTZ, but there's nothing that will outcast this with the Xsmall weights.
