Ended the year with a NITRO bang!

Post by Nitroman77 » Mon Nov 11, 2013 12:03 am

Yea Yea I know this isnt tackle, but it can hold a ISH ton of it!
Got back Last Mon from fishing our Team Classic and we came away with the 1st place victory and a 2013 Nitro Z8..
We booked it down to Bob Sandlin Lake in Texas Last Weds to get in some pre fishing and man was it BRUTAL!
Weds.... fished 3 hours and it rained 4" or more
Thurs...Blew out of the west 25-30 all day and got off the water at 2pm due to 5-6 foot rollers..
Fri... Post Front Blue Bird skies calm winds..

Sat...GAME DAY! Winds out of the north at 20MPH, but we had our 7 spots that we had caught a keeper on and hoped it would last us..We ran all our spots and had 4 keepers by 1030 or so and then it SHUT OFF! We couldn't buy a bite for the rest of the day.. We get to weigh in with our 4 keepers and we had 9.94 and was sitting in 3rd place with a CHANCE!
1st place had 13lbs and change with an 8lb Kicker, BUT only had 3 fish total so we knew they got lucky on the big bite..

SUN...DAY 2...FOGGY...I mean THICK FOG to where you couldn't see the TM on the front of the boat..
We headed out to our first area where we had a good top water bite the practice days, but this day showed us nothing!
So we made the run all the way across the lake to where our starting area was, but the water was colder so the fog was much thicker.. I saw a bubble trail as I knew someone else was in our general area and I was hoping not on "our" spot..
We idle down and there they were! Not on our spot, but 50 yards away maybe..
We pull up and I start cranking that Square bill...about 25 mins in I whacked a nice keeper..
We move on to our other spots and they all yielded us keepers..
Our last spot about 12 or so I caught a 4.65 and my partner caught our last keeper about 5 mins after so we were sitting pretty good..

We get to Weigh In and was nervous about what 1st and 2nd had as they were on fish..
1st came in with one small keeper so we knew we moved up..
2nd goes to weigh in and they had 5 keepers and I knew it was over till they put them on the scales and were just 9lbs..
We weighed in and we had 5 for 10.80 and big bass for Day 2
We still didnt know the totals as I walked our fish down to release and when I came back up 2nd place congratulated us..
We about fell over and won by just a pound or so..

All the hard work payed off for us as it has been one hell of a year fishing!

Also did a Youtube Vid of practice..

Awesome win! Congrats
I gotta ask though, being as you already have a boat, what do you do with the brand new one you just won? Do you just turn around and sell it or what? I always wondered that.....

hey
a nitro z8 is that the prize for only 1 challenge,or a whole season in the top?
if that's the deal,wow!!!!
here in belgium or europe that would be impossible.

Just curious, do you guys have to show the list price ($36K) of that boat as earned income for the year on your taxes?

YES... ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
thats why its NOT so cool to win a boat since lets say we sell at 20K and then we have to file for taking a loss for possible 5 years..

Ouch! Talk about adding insult to injury! Take a $15k hit on the retail vs. actual amount you get for it, then have to pay taxes on the $35K AND the $20K you got out of it. That's kinda hard to swallow. Anyway, congrats on a winning season! =D> =D> =D>

Lol yea its crazy to think!
We actually sold the boat yesterday and waiting on the guy from South Dakota to come pick her up!
just have to go pay sales tax and then turn around and give the titles to the new owner.. ](*,)
