2 BIRDS WITH 1 STONE!!!

Got out nice and early today but ran into some traffic so we didn't start fishing till around 9:00 a.m. Fished a small pond right next to a highway but off the beaten path, doesn't get any pressure and this was the first time I've ever been here.
Got the boat in the water and was surprised what my friends depthfinder read... most of this little pond was in between 9 and 12 feet deep. It was about 34 degrees when we caught most of our fish, I didn't think they would start hitting until it warmed up a bit but they didn't waste any time! We headed straight out and around 9:15 I made a long cast towards the shoreline with my 1/2 oz War Eagle spinnerbait (Hot Mouse color). I slow rolled it from the edge of the bank and as soon as it dropped from 3 feet down to around 10 this fish absolutely SLAMMED my spinnerbait. I saw it come up once when it was far out and knew it was a big fish, lots of headshaking around the boat too. A 4lb fish around here is big, and last year I only got one that was over 4 last year (4lb 4oz), so I knew this was a special fish.
Bent down and grabbed her by the lip and to my surprise the fish was around 21.5 or 22" but was incredibly thick. Took a few pics and then weighed her. She went a healthy 6lbs 8 oz
That's 3 ounces more than my previous PB that I caught almost 4 years ago
Also caught 4 more bass in the 1-1.5 lb range all on a lucky craft 5-7 ft crankbait.
I would say it was a great day and I got my new PB as the FIRST fish of this year!
Thanks for reading!
