Well I am going to give it a shot! Painting that is. Reel started as a wreck anyways and if I mess up it will still be a wreck!
Here is the beginning:

This is what it looked like it was a workhorse and still will be just with a face lift.
Will be adding more pics as the project progresses!

Here are all the parts before cleaning and sanding....

Here is the Nose Piece and Palm Side Plate 1st coat....

That matte color is going to look slick...and "dark".

I have actually toyed with doing this same thing. Gotta find a beat up one for sale first. Please keep the post updated as I will certainly be looking forward to your results!

Guys this is my very first experience with this and don't know how it will turn out everything looks good to the eye but durability will be the true test! I hope for the best and gotten a lot of info from rugbyfisherman (Neal) his insight has been very helpful. When I see how the durability stands up I will then reveal the methods and products don't want to look like a idiot til the end!

1st coat of clear before sanding!
