My first Pixy project

Post by branover » Tue Feb 05, 2013 1:42 pm

Just wanted to post a picture of my first reel project. I bought a fairly stock Pixy a few months ago with Boca abec 7 spool bearings in it and Carbontex drag. I've since installed a PX Type R line guide and spool cap, along with PX 6.8 gear set and worm drive bearing. I also added 4 bb red Daiwa knobs installed on a carbon fiber Zillion Type R handle with a Zillion Type R drag star and drag clicker conversion. Just thought I'd share, I know it's nothing to original but it was my first upgraded reel that I did myself so I was excited to share.

Lovely looking reel with a nice colour combo, good to see you went with a theme and used a PX68 line guide rather than the TDZ. I have a 103 Alphas at home in need of a repaint and was considering this type of colour scheme. I think you may have just decided it for me.
Cheers,
John.

Thank you both, I appreciate it.
I liked the way PX line guide looked much more than a tdz one, I'm not sure why that's generally the preferred one.
Many thanks to the Tackle Trap by the way for the help with a lot of the parts.

New clothes and guts for a classic Pixy. Super sweet if someone wants the Airy Red spool, slighly different braking and the Airy Red them vs a black/red PX Type R.

I like it as well. :big grin:

I'm on the lookout for a Red Spool for it, not easy to come by.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone

That's one rad Pixy. Makes me sad that I offloaded my two.

Looks great and the red spools are pretty cool if you can find one.

That really does look great! =D>

I think one of my next two reel purchases is going to be some sort of Pixy.
