For some reason they don't do it for me they make me say "meh", nonetheless I'm dont feel oblivious to the fact on how sexy that piece of equipment and how well put together they are.

Just got my hands on the new Alde 51 MGL HG. Had to order an 843 conquest to go with it.

Does the spool look much different than the JDM 30??? From what I can tell they are pretty much the same...

I haven’t seen or handled the 30 in person but in pics and on video they look the same. It’s a pretty smooth reel for the weight. I put some 12 lb sniper on it, about 65 yds and will do some testing later today. I was busy so I only got to try it real quick yesterday.

Thanks!!! I am asking because I wanted another reel recently, but am obviously not buying another Daiwa now (already have 2 of the better light lure casting reels, Zillion SV TW). So I looked to Shimano, after already owning a Chronarch MGL and the Bantam being a little closer to HD it leaves me hunting a JDM Metanium MGL or Aldebaran MGL.

Is it me or is the finish more blue than gray on these new ones?

No worries. I have a metanium mgl xg with upgraded brass gears and it is an awesome reel so are the metanium 13s w brass very smooth, and excellent casting. The alde mgl seems like a better reel for throwing light weight lures under a 1/2 oz, but I will give it a test when I get home with some heavier baits just to see what it’s working with.

To be honest this is the first Aldebaran I’ve got to handle in person, but under light it definitely has a hint of dark blue. When not under light it is more gunmetal looking. Pretty nice looking even though it really doesn’t match any of my rods very well.

Broke her in last night, nothing of size but fun little fighting river largie :big grin: Golden alge is funking up some local resovoirs so yak fishing has yielded little as of late. Boats with motors seem to do okay. Anyway local river fun last night and the SC with 6lb P-Line Floroclear with 2/0 ewg and 3 in senko in slack water was the trick. TW was on but could get anything to hook up with pop x. Enjoy :big grin:

Picked up this little gem off EBay last week. Listed as used, but saw absolutely zero evidence of any use. It is in mint condition, and not even a spec of grass/dirt on it anywhere. Spool was included for a great price, but won’t be able to use it. Added the 102mm handle off a Stile and the high speed brass gears, and it’s a smooth little beast now. Also including a pic of the first fish caught on it, great way to start it off.
