Gary Dobyns is the man!!!

If I were to get another rod custom built, I'd design it the same way Gary did with the Champion Series. Split grip, no foregrip with a counter balance weight added for perfect balance! Yes, that's right, counterbalanced included. Just awesome quality for a rod like this. It is very well built, the thread wraps are black with a nice blue highlight to them. The epoxy is even, smooth, and very precise.

Oh, and the reel is a 50Mg with VXB ABEC 7 ceramic hybrids, Carbontex carbon fiber drag upgrade, and ZPI Platinum 85mm carbon fiber handle. The baitmonkey says, "carbon fiber inly on rod + carbon fiber handle on reel = !!"

Not sure if you have owned any Powells...but if you have, a compare and contrast between the Dobyns 683c and the Powell 683c would be nice too..

...do you have a weight on that dobyns 683c by chance?

'grats Bass Pro, but one comment.

I think you need to go back to the standard ZPI handle on your Chronarch MG to match the woven graphite pattern at the rear grip of the rod

Im waiting to get my hands on one to compare with my Powell. They do look very nice and a lil more exotic with the fiber weave in back. I want to know what the weight of the 683C is.
