how do you like that Regal Xi. I was thinking of getting it for my girlfriend. Right now she is using my Penn Cv 4000 and want something smaller for her.

The Regal Xi is very smooth for such a low priced reel and it's packed with features. It has a tiny bit of play, but for $35-$40 I don't think there's any spinner out there that can beat it or even match it in performance or features. It's fairly light too.

hehe i use that reel for my HMG

theres only 1 thing i dont like about it... the frame is kinda weak... you can notice alot of movment around the reel feet area when your pulling in a fish

Whoah you use a $40 reel on a $100+ rod?

If I had a $100+ rod, I'd at least pair it with a reel that's in the $60-$80 range.

Thanks, I like the color too. Funny thing is, I didn't even realize the reel seat color matched the reel so well. :) I might get a 1500 size reel when I get the Triforce Shorty. Pretty amazing that you could get such a nice rod for only $15.

Anyway thanks everyone for the comments good or bad. I'm currently doing research on two higher priced combos for the future, one surf and one standard.

my friend wanted a better setup than his zebco...so i set him up w/ a nice im7 spinning rod and that reel, not a bad reel for the cash

Well it's a little heavier than my Procaster but it's a lot less stiff. The tip section is very soft, softer than my Procaster even though both is moderate action but that allows me to whip light baits effortlessly during casting. I can cast light baits better with this rod than the Procaster. It's slightly less sensitive than the Procaster though probably due to the increased weight which isn't a big deal for me since I'm not fishing for minnows or sardines.
