Weighed my Glorious 7'4" XH (14-150g) and it came in at 146g with plastic wrap still on the handle. Great balance as well.

That's an impressive rod weight for the rated power.

Got the 2610 ul/m in yesterday. Always was interested in this one and pulled the trigger when I saw one up for sale. UL soft tip, smoothly transitions into a medium butt. Denoted as XF taper, I feel like that's where the UL tip shuts off. Bends smoothly through the upper mid section. Near full shut off about half way up from the handle. Blank diameter def looks medium at the handle. Haven't fished it yet, just tugged on it at home. Wants to go tip up with a Vanquish 2500 and pinky behind the reel stem.

I check JLS weekly for PG rods because they are the cheapest place to acquire one. This weeks search revealed the 7'H, and for almost $100 cheaper than what I paid from Tackle Haven.

7'H PG $367 ($407 shipped)

It was if it was the store running the sale.

Got a chance to fish with the 2610 ul/m today. Got a few winter smallies on the rod. I really like it. Threw about a 6g total neko rig and it fished it great. Rod feels like a sharp feather with the Vanquish. Here is a pic of the rod loaded up in case anyone was interested. There was some chatter on this model a several pages back but idk if anyone ended up getting it.

Could it be a good midstrolling rod for 1/4 and above?

Thanks

1/4oz jigheads? Yes, no problem as long as the plastic isn't huge. I've thrown a 1/4oz drop shot plus 4" flat worm once and it was fine. That tip is really UL so take that into consideration. I've thrown 0.9g heads and hoverstrolled 3" baits like the Flash-J and RV-drift fry and that works too.

I actually picked up an UL Poison Adrena with Excite Tip for hover strolling the above baits. That Excite tip really allows you to generate the tip shaking motion easily and without fatigue. Maybe something to consider for you. I plan to midstroll with PG UL/M with 1/16oz heads and 3" and 4" baits when I get a chance, fishing the baits at about 8'-10' depth.

Are the Excite tips just Shimanos wording for Solid tip, or something different?

Their catalog says:

EXCITE TOP

EXCITE TOP is a special tip that enhances the shake performance of lures and contributes to sensitivity. The tip section is tapered and slightly heavier at the top. This construction expands the swing width of the tip, enabling shaking with an automatic feeling. The movement seen by the eyes, and the sensitivity transmitted to the hands, is greatly improved.

Thanks Dennis. How would you describe it? What's the taper like?

I have 5 PG models including one with Excite Top, 264sul+. it's definitely much easier for constant shaking with little force, even compared with PG2610L-s which is solid tip. I don't feel difference in sensitivity though, they are all pretty sensitive in my hands
