Zillion 1000 JDM plastic bag reel wrapper

Post by Johnny A » Mon Apr 19, 2021 2:13 pm

Received my 3rd Zillion 1000 today. It was wrapped in “crackly” plastic bag, like the first one. The second reel was your basic, plastic bag.
I would think packaging materials would be consistent in a large company.

I can't believe they're not using bubble wrap on items worth hundreds of dollars while some random dollar store USB cable is wrapped in bubble wrap.

I’m pretty sure all were bubble wrapped.

I've seen plenty that come just in the crackly plastic bags

Yes, a slightly stiffer crackly plastic bag

Yeah, I got two reels with the crackly bag and one regular plastic. All the reels look the same and perform the same. Maybe some wiseass Daiwa guy figured he’d get some dope wondering

Packaging is key on painted parts.
Depending on production times... if bagged too soon can lead to outgassing of the finish and leave small minuscule solvent popping on the finish. Bubble wrap can also damage the finish. If the reels are allowed to cure properly before packaging for shipment, damage to finish is greatly reduced during storage/shipment.

Added heat and humidity while packaging or during shipment can greatly affect the painted part if packaged to soon with the packaging without full cure. Buy from the right source ;) . I bought mine from JP Angler. From Daiwa the reel was put in a plain plastic bag, but Kazu had wrapped bubble plastic around the reel inside the box and around the box before shipping to me :D

I guess you never heard of counterfeit items. It happens. more often than a lot of people think.

I'd have to ask how many people buy name brand reels out of China's domestic market and could argue that they're possibly counterfeit?

With regards to packaging materials they change from time to time, just because the bags differ you can't say too much for it? Someone in packaging ran out of the run of bags and used whatever they had in supply - no?
