Alphas/pixy spool options
Trying to decide on a spool for a project. Well, the project was complete but the reel was set up more for bfs but I'm moving it to a different rod.
Anyway it's an old purple alphas with spacers to accept a pixy spool. It currently has a I'ze finesse Special spool and I really like the way the black and silver look on this reel so if prefer a black or silver spool. I'm wanting to throw 1/8-3/8 oz
Will the pixy I'ze finesse Special handle 3/8oz ok? Which of the two will handle 1/8 (or possibly just under) the best?
If the px68 I'ze finesse spool will be close I'll probably just leave it be. Otherwise I'll by the parts and convert it to use the ct sv 700s spool.
Thanks

Thank you. Did you finally sell that t3? I've been tempted to buy it but not sure what I'd use it for.

Chris, I did, it sold yesterday
Re: Alphas/pixy spool options
I've thrown Havoc Flat Dawgs with no additional weight on Alphas SV with a Zonda spool. Those are probably a little over 1/4 oz. The spool did ok with the bait but wasn't a top 10 spool by any means. They are happier with 3/8 to 3/4 total weight IMO.
The Airy Red is excellent with 1/4 oz total weight. Easily one of my favorites. I can almost spool it of 20# braid with a 1/10 oz head and TRD. That spool just rips with 1/4 oz but is capacity challenged for anything heavier.

Re: Alphas/pixy spool options
The 33mm Ray's Studio spool is awesome for 1/8 to 1/2 oz. I regret letting mine go with a reel I sold.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.
Re: Alphas/pixy spool options
Another spool to consider would be the Alpha Type R spool, my favorite Alpha spool.

Re: Alphas/pixy spool options
You think I should leave them or look for some of the black megabass hyper corks?
Re: Alphas/pixy spool options
Of the spools listed I hve only used the I'se spool and the airy red. Of those two the airy red would be my choice. I didn't really care for the I'se much it was somewhat wild and unpredictable. If you want a Pixy spool for 3/8 I'd go with the PX68 spools. or Maybe even an SV 105.

Re: Alphas/pixy spool options
I use my i'ze finesse special down to 1.8g with 8lb jbraid. It can handle way under 3/8oz easily. Wish they made these spools in a ported version. They'd be killer.
