The above comments on the SD and DS are spot on, and I’m loving these rods! Both are super sensitive and feather light. The SD is definitely about the same power as the fmj but the shorter length and more mod action are noticeable in a good but different way.

One thing to note on the SD: after sticking your hands in a bag of oily plastics or applying sunscreen, wipe them off thoroughly. While the grip is quite comfortable and transmits vibration well, it’s hard to hold with anything oily on your hand. Sweat or water are no problem though

SD is listed as medium fast and it feels like the "typical" medium fast that I'm familiar with from other MB rods. I think that the DS is more sensitive than the SD, largely a function of the fast(er) taper rod.

jmb27, have you fished either the Daemos or FMJ? It sounds like their both being Fast vs the SD MF would make them possibly more sensitive (similar to what you found on the DS vs SD)?

sounds like the SD would be a more versatile stick then the Daemos/FMJ, but not as focused a bottom contact rod.

I was thinking of selling off my beloved FMJ to get a SD. sounds like I just need to get the SD to add to the rod pile.
I haven't fished the Daemos or FMJ--but I've read that those rods are really nice!

The SD is listed as a tight quarters/cover rod for jigs and worms. I primarily was interested in the rod for that (along w/some frog stuff) for when I'm fishing out of my kayak. The SD is 6'9" versus the more typical heavy cover rods being in the 7' to 7' 6" range--the longer rods are a little more cumbersome for me in the kayak, so I was looking for a "stout" rod that is shorter. I do plan on using it for some t-rig and jigs soon.

Perhaps, @bronzefly can chime and let you know if there are any build differences (i.e. taper, actions) between the US market Destroyers and the ones built for the Japanese market.

Of course, this being the enthusiast section of TT, the correct answer is to keep the FMJ and get an SD as well. ;)

How do you guys like the seat on the spinning models? Comfy or awkward?

BASS - Balance, Action, Sensitivity , Sticker price

I think balance has been covered.. I dont know of any Megabass rod that is not balanced and I could be wrong in that statement but there have not been any that I owned. The Xtreme Mission X7 wasn't unbalanced just too light of a reel will not be suitable for it.

ACTION, there's ton on this thread on the action of these rod but my I ask about sensitivity ? Albeit subjective but from what I've read, and or watched the FMJ is a sensitive rod just not as good as the Steez AGS. The Xbites rod seems close to the Gambler to me and i believe that the gambler is just a piece of art esp the reel seat it just makes me "feel" good looking at it.. But it performs and is pretty sensitive. I have a IS79 on it with purple accents and to me I'd rather that stick than the FMJ which has similar ratings as well. However I am more interested in the Dark Sleeper rod with seemed like a swim jig rod to me but is listed as a bottom contact rod just for light cover and light texas rigs. So thats like a mag drop shot or shakey head language to me.

Of all the sticks in the line up the Super D, seems to be the goto rod but for frogs? I dont think I've used the older version for frogs and I love it for jigs.. I'd like to know how it fishes a zoom fluke?

All that being said, I hope to hear a bit more on the sensitivity of the P5. With rods priced at $650 (conquest) and the saturated $5-600 range people like me are looking for what sets one rod apart from the other. I have a green NRX and its okay and I say that because its not balanced and at that price point I would have to say that Balance and Sensitivity should be EXPECTED. I know it may rub some people the wrong way but I will sit on this hill that says I should not have to put a chair cap on my rod with quarters in it to balance it at that price.. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) .
That being said I like it esp paired with the Antares HG that I have on it currently but I expected better and have not brought another. So when I am looking at a rod in this P5 price point I'm looking at all the competitors as well and the JDM and custom routes too. $500 is $500 and i dont want to be underwhelmed or blow on the die once I get past a certain dollar amount.

Levante AKLYS....easily the worst and most unbalanced rod I’ve ever laid in my hands. That thing was an abomination

Getting my super destroyer tomorrow!

Now I have to decide which reel to put on it.

Steez A tw with a ZPI M spool or JDM Scorpion DC!

It’s just not right to put a shimano on an MB rod

I put the Steez on the new Super Destroyer and Scorpion DC on the Destroyer Javelin for its long cast capabilities.

Oh boy, here we go again...I swung a 2lbdr in the boat with my X-Bites-the-dust and it snapped right in the middle of the wrap on the 6th guide from the tip

Aahhhk! I’m sorry to hear that and I’m sorry that you’ll have to go to the trouble of warrantying it. I was really hoping this problem might go away.
