After all this talk about these rods I had to grab myself an RSR model. My curiosity is just too much to bear. I have the Super Stallion GT and it’s a sweet rod. I’m Excited to try an x fast model of the blank and the full single footed titanium guides over the double footed that are on my SS GT and HD version of the rapid gunner. Now I just gotta find another rod or two to make the shipping charges look better. :big grin:

Right on! I re-read your post on it again the other day and hearing how highly Cranky thinks of it I decided to pull the trigger. The taper, power, and awesome blank make it too easy for me to tell myself I need another of these inspirare rods.

Can't wait to hear more about this rod. One thing I'm wondering before I make the plunge is the differences in the guide size between the RSR model and the HD? I also assume the blanks are the exact same between RSR and HD?

I just got mine yesterday. Compared side by side with my Super Stallion GT the guides on the RSR are noticeably smaller. Also the RSR has 11 guides plus the tip compared to the SSGT which has a few less, but is an inch longer. I’m sure the blank on the RSR and HD models are the same, but I’m not sure of the guide train. If I was a braid to leader person I’d probably prefer the HD because there will definitely be less resistance for the connection knot through the guides and they are double footed. The RSR’s aren’t micro or anything, but are smaller. Sweet taper and love the feel of these rods in hand. The RSR is a little heavier than the SSGT and balances slightly towards the tip with an upgraded zillion 10 on it, but I wouldn’t consider it tip heavy. It’s a very nice rod can’t wait to compare it to some of the others I got. This rod was shipped incredibly well with an aluminum extension pole taped to the bubble wrapped rod extended past both ends the stuffed with bubble wrap. I’ve never seen that before but it’s pretty awesome. In the pic with the 2 rods the one on the left is the RSR’s guides and right side is SSGT for a little look at the guides. Again sorry for the crappy pics.

Nice Evergreen pickup!

RSR vs HD: guides are the only difference. Grip, seat, and blanks are identical.

Guides on the RSR are Ti/Torzite single foot semi-micro and on the HD they’re Ti/Torzite double foot 0.5-1.0 size increase each from the RSR. For this reason I went with the HD version personally.

Not sure if there’s anything I don’t like about the rod. It’s incredible.

Right on! I’m a straight braid, flouro, or mono guy on all my casting gear. Only braid to leader on egg beaters. Which is why I went RSR. I can’t wait to take this one for a ride on the boat. I absolutely love the full handle Eva Grip on the SSGT. I wish one of the versions of this rod had Eva on both grips or full handle. I would have went for whatever model was set up that way. In my pool test no real noticeable difference in sensitivity between these newer gen inspiraré rods. Both are awesome and have a purpose in my line up.

Here are a couple taper pics of the RSR for anyone who might be interested. Sorry for the sideways pics.

Nice taper! As the load increases, does the blank progressively bend toward the butt section or does it shut off at a certain point?

The bottom pic represents a deep hookset with a good amount of force on the end. That’s about as much as it will go. It doesn’t really get past a fast taper, and with a lighter load is XF.

Hello Sirs;

I've already sold my kaleido black gunner and I was thinking to replace it with Rapid gunner for principal application of 1/2 and 3/4oz jigs.

The problem its that I don't know which to choose if RSR model or HD...

Any suggestions?

Regards

I sent you a pm, but for those interested the only difference between RSR and HD is the guide train. Same blank, handle, taper, and the rest. I went with the RSR because I don’t run braid to leader except for spinning rods. I run straight flouro or braid depending and don’t need larger guides. Also sensitivity is slightly better with smaller guides in my opinion. If I was a braid to leader guy or going to use the rod for heavy cover I’d probably have opted for the HD. I hope this helps.

Hi Dom, thanks for your answer.

But the size of the guides isn't the same ?? I thought that the only difference with guides was doble foot not size.

Also I've sometime heard someone who thinks that rods doble footed transmit better to the blank that single footed...

I don't know...

The HD has double footed guides that are also larger diameter. They intentionally increased the diameters for the HD model. For my applications (mostly heavy cover) and preference it was the right choice for me. i think the larger guides manage slack line better and the semi-micro that Evergreen uses are very small. You’re really going to love either choice, whatever your preference is. I think it’s impressive Evergreen will make both models available.
