Translation of Shimano Japan lure symbols
Translation of Shimano Japan lure symbols
Hey guys, I'm contemplating buying one of the new Poison Adrena rods.
On the Japanese Shimano website there is a matrix with lure symbols where it says which rods can be used for which lures. Some pretty obvious and it is clear what lure is depicted, for instance the frog and swimbait, but others are not or look similar.
Does anyone know all the names/meanings of all the symbols?
Find below the link to the website:

Well, it looks like probably heavy Texas, light Texas, heavy dropshot, light dropshot, heavy jig, light jig, don't know, jighead wacky, weightless wacky, weightless stickbait, mojo rig, Carolina rig, shallow crank, vibration, jerkbait, deep crank, topwater, spinnerbait, swimbait, frog.
This is the way.

Thanks Poisonokie. Makes sense what you're saying. Your only 'don't know' I also don't know haha, but might be a soft swimbait on a jighead?

I was thinking that too just because that's the only mainstream technique they didn't cover, but doesn't it look like there's a sinker in front of it? There certainly should be a slot for swim jigs/Keitechs.
This is the way.
Re: Translation of Shimano Japan lure symbols
Exactly, swimjig/soft swimbait should be mentioned, since it is a widely used technique, also by myself.
I'm not sure if I see a sinker, but these symbols are crazy small.

Ah, I see that now. I was thrown by what to me looked like a barrel sinker up the line. Well, there you have it. Our intuition proved correct. Not a bad quality for an angler to have!

I've found Jdm Shimano rods to be so multi capable, I don't even pay attention to those symbols. As long as my intended techniques fall within the blank specs.

That's great, Loafer! Thanks a lot!
I have saved the picture for future reference and admin might consider to label this as a sticky note, becuase I'm sure many (future) JDM Enthusiasts will benefit from this post.
thanks again
