Tulala blanks?

Does anyone know anything about the blanks Tulala uses? Are these sourced from Designo perhaps? All I can find is that they are advertised as low elasticity. I’ve been eying these rods for a while and can find very little. Thanks in advance.

Hate to see a good thread go unanswered :D
Tulala is a very interesting brand. Very eclectic lineup that doesnt fit the mold of most other rod makers. Rods are very robust and look as though they are built to last. They seem to now be coming into the limelight with thier collaboration with DRT and the Remix series.
With the signature red/brown hue of the blank, a lineup loaded with magnum duty rods and thier fair share of grip-joint and multi-piece rods, I highly doubt these are Designo Blanks. Not what Designo is known for.
I have read a couple of blogs that review some of the lesser known series (Glissando/Baritono) and the people seem to worship these rods, in a cult like manner.
I've never seen what rod the River Monster guy uses, but I can envision him using one of these bad boys.
Not a rod at the top of my list right now, but I can see owning one at some point. In the mean time, I think I will settle for this super cool Iphone Case

I too have been keeping an eye on Tulala and associated gear, tempted by the 'old school' short baitcaster thing despite using Evergreen rods to chase bass. The Fishman stable is also worth looking at, only baitcasting rods offered, from trout to GTs....

Thanks Aquaftn for the info. I took the plunge in the dark not knowing much at all. All I knew is I was really digging what anglers were saying and it seemed to fit my fishing style. It’s the last rod I’ve been wanting and will likely get for a while. The 74 monstruo is on the way. It’s supposedly one of their most versatile monster hunters, spiral wrap, and supposedly loads nicely below big bait weights. I’ll update once I get some time with it.

I will say I had to go to some trouble to get this thing ordered.

Congrats. That is one sweet looking, versitile stick. Can't wait to hear about it. I almost pulled the trigger on a 7'7 Glissando on Yahoo lastnight, thinking I still lived in FL and fished the flats for reds, snook and trout. Then I woke up...lol

Could these Tulala blank-heads be descendants of actress Tallulah Bankhead?

It's been hit or miss excitement wise on some recent tackle acquisitions for me and this has been a major hit this week. I am able to throw everything in my garage on this rod and work it with ease. If I survived a plane crash with just one; this is high in the running as the one I'd want on that deserted island. Just been bushwhacking my neighborhood bank this week fishing off mostly suspecting neighbors docks. Some requisite tackle porn and business end pics. Nicest one I've landed with it so far. Has been super fun. For a big fish rod, this thing is as far away from a broomstick as I could imagine.

Man Polk, so glad to hear that you scored a winner. After you mentioning that specific rod and reading up on it, it seemed to be a versitile stick. It's a beauty and props to you hopeing for the best and jumping on that rod. This brand has now bounced up my list as must have JDM rods.
Any clue as to if is manufactured in Japan?

I can’t figure that out Aquaftn. What literature came with the rod is all in Japanese. Unfortunately I can’t google translate it. On their site I was reading about a different model that was described as all Japanese made. But that is not in the description of the Monstruo series. That might refer to the Fuji components; not sure. In any case, there is no English written “made in...” anywhere on the rod or associated paper work. One small English inscription on the rod: “For every stream” and then in another place something in Japanese. Very little on the blank at all- no lure weights or line indications that typically find their way onto to a blank. Just the squirrel holding the iced over rod. It’s a gorgeous blank in hand; however. Does not come through in photos. And the cork is awesome. Some of the best cork I’ve had on a Japanese rod. I don’t know about some rods that claim AAA champagne cork that looks flimsy and starts to fall apart after a year’s use. Makes me wonder how many A’s are assigned to really good champagne cork. As an aside, for some reason US rod makers usually get the cork right and do not even bother to advertise. Loomis comes to mind here. That’s how this is; but it’s dense. It’s just cork. I also like the reel seat; don’t know what it’s called off hand. Seems similar to the one on the oltres. I’m out of town so can’t peak at the rod rack to make sure.

Nice write up and pick up. Looks like a sweet rod with those spiral guides. Always nice picking up a random rod and it working out for you.

That's why I was wondering, they mentioned it on the Harmonix series, then didn't bother on the others. Doesnt really mean that it wasn't made in Japan.

I like that alot!. Some Japanese rod makers get way to busy with the writing on the rod, in a bad way, Designo comes to mind. Some end up looking pretty cool, Sedition comes to mind.

It's funny you mention that. Multiple A's for cork grading is a manufactured rating system started by rod companies. They mean very little, rod companies can assign as many A's as they want, there is no accountability or liability if they give you a poor quality cork. The cork industry has it's own rating system and it's even a little wobbly. Hands down, the best cork I have is on my Fenwick Techna GP. It retailed for $500+ back when it was released in 2012 and like all JDM Fenwicks, made in China. They were on point with materials and quality control with that series.

I think your right. It looks just like the reel seat on my Oltre and Efreet, my favorite type of reel seat. Efreet is kind of a mat black rubberized version and the Oltre, as you know more slick and shiny. You will also see it on some of the Zenaq, DRT/Artex and some others I can't recall.
They have the ACS reel seat on half of their other rods in this series and on their DRT Remix series, no thanks!

Ran accross this JDM fanatic's blog while doing a search on this rod. He does a small showcase on it back in a 2017 article. No idea who this cat is, but surprised he is not on TT! He has some gems...

I was just thinking today about asking you how your liking new sword...guess this answers the question. I've been hawking all of them on Yjp recently. Especially the short beast, 6'4 Minuano to pair with a Saltiga30 2-speed to leave in FL for Grouper/Snapper fishing. My most recent FL trip left me desiring more than using my buddies Penn's, BG's or the like. My most repeated phrase in FL "You just bought a $110,000 boat and all you have to choose from are $150 combos?"
