'19 Scorpion MGL 150

Post by fishballer06 » Mon Mar 04, 2019 7:58 am

Has anyone else been eyeing this reel up? If this is a Curado K with an MGL spool, I'd have to think it's going to be a winner. Does anyone know any other specs about it yet? I haven't really seen any other posts about this reel yet.

I think it will do okay, especially in the US. If it were out before I bought my Chronarch MGL I probably would have bought the Scorpion MGL instead, due to ergonomics, aluminum frame, and assuming cheaper price. I also like the bigger knobs of the Curado K/new Scorpion style reel.

Yes... this is essentially the Curado K with an MGL spool painted in the traditional Scorpion reel color... should be a winner \:D/

It's been the traditional color of JDM Scorpions for decades longer than the Rocket has been around.

Red, yes. Red sideplates with a black frame, no.

What's your point here? Are we seriously arguing over every reel that's ever been painted red?

No. Just a specific paint "combo/style". If you cant see the resemblance, than I dont know what to tell you. Its an observation, dont get too excited.

Abu, Lews, most bps reels, browning and some others are all made by pure fishing which are all copies of each other anyway.
Most have interchangeable parts and I have to work on quite a few. (High school fishing team) Usually when I open one up and show a customer all the plastic for the thumb actuator and lack of bearing placement they always go to Shimano.

Thanks for the heads up. I bought a 151HG from eBay last night before bed. I woke up this morning to tracking information and a message from the retailer thanking me for my order and giving me my tracking number again. Can't wait to receive it!
