Weight, mainly. The Steez is stupid-light and smooth, but that Alphas is no slouch. I do like the clicking drag in the Steez-it makes me wish every reel I own had this feature.
But performance wise, you would rate them equal in terms of casting?

Can I ask what you are using the reels for? What line, what rod?

Thanks again! :)
I have both the 8.1 steez ct and 7.2 alphas ct. Comparing between the two the casting difference is so small its hard tell really. I believe the steez has an ever so slight edge in short pitches but even there its close. Where the steez wins is in form factor, weight, the 8.1 ratio and the edge in smoothness plus clicking drag. I have 10lb red label on both, the alphas is on an edge black widow 704HM rod and the steez is on a 6'6" poison adrena. I use the alphas setup for mainly lighter t-rig's and small cranks while steez combo i also run small t-rigs as well as jerkbaits.
And Steve sums it up beautifully! =D> =D> =D> I do like throwing a Strike King Micro King spinnerbait with the Alphas/Corzza combo. It says they weigh 1/16 oz, but it's probably closer to 1/8 oz. when I add a 3" Yum curlytail trailer, and it will launch that little lure. My Steez are both on x-fast ML rods, so they do light bottom-contact and weightless stuff.

For what you want to do, the Alphas will be plenty of reel. But in true TT fashion, I recommend both.

I think the alphas is better bang for the buck but by fishing the steez you can see why its the flagship reel. It is a work of art and you will pay to have all the goodies.. In tt fashion i say get both as Tim so eloquenty stated. But you can get two alphas for the price of one steez. Thats a lot of performance for the money!

Even better than the Steez SV TW in regards of 'work of art'? ;)

IMO yes, my sample of one ct is tighter and more fluid than any tw sv or steez a ive been able to lay my hands on. The ct is smaller than a pixy too so if you like diminutive sized reels then youll love it. Form factor is probably the best daiwa has ever released for my hands.

Its not just lefties at the moment. It's difficult to find the XH in either hand.

To those who had a chance to fish this reel for some time now, what's you overall opinion, is it worth it? I'm looking to add another CT reel to my collection (have steez CT) but looking for something cheeper. Reel will be mainly used for throwing 1/8 to 3/8 baits.
Thanks

I still have 2 alphas ct's if that says anything. The alphas is very close to the steez ct in castability, its hard to tell a difference. The steez is an amazing reel but for the price of the alphas the performance is very close and you can get 2 alphas for the cost of one steez. If you're fine with a 7.2 or 6.3 ratio, you'll be very happy with the alphas.
