Just talked to my contact at JapanLureshop. He told me that the high gear left hand models will be out of stock till June, maybe even July since Daiwa seems to have some issues with production.

That just sucks...

Having said that, just now found the High gear Left hand model in stock at JapanTackle. Was 530 USD (70 USD more than on Digitaka), but oh well. Was already expensive in the first place... ;)

Looks like even my German countrymen are excited about this reel! And that has to say something when a super critical German gets that excited! ;)

Good video, the gears almost look identical to what is in the Steez A, not 100% though, just the clicking drag, washers, ratio, etc. all match. I still wonder if you could use the normal 90mm Daiwa handles. I figure you can but the lock plate runs parallel with the handle rather than slightly offset.

Does anyone find the position of the brake dial bothersome in any way? Accidental adjustments or digging into your finger?

I personally cant even feel the dial when palming it. It is very "out of the way", even compared to its big brother, the SV TW.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I put a 90mm handle on mine initially, but went back with the stock handle and added high-grip SLPW knobs.

Interesting. It seems like the dial would be directly under my ring and pointer finger, when palming this baby reel. With the SV TW, the dial is recessed inside the side plate.

I suspect you and hoohoorjoo may palm your reels differently. I use right hand reels and palm with 3 fingers in front of the trigger. I notice a lot of lefty reel users both palm and cast with only 2 fingers in front of the trigger so they don't have to change grip between casting and palming. The reel appears to be designed to be extremely ergonomic no matter how it is palmed. I think it is a pretty safe bet that it is going to palm great. I was seeing them doing some weird palming of the reel in a Japanese video and they seemed to be trying to selling that as a feature.

I'm a 3 finger. I'm sure it palms like a golf ball, which makes me wonder about the position of the brake dial.

Anyone think Daiwa will introduce a 7.1 ratio into the Steez CT line?

I dont think this will happen.

To me, my 8.1:1 feels a lot under retrieve live my 7.1:1 Steez SV TWS. Given the smaller spool, that makes sense. I actually wised the 8.1:1 was even faster.

But that might just be me...
