ZPI Reel?
Re: ZPI Reel?
In all likelyhood they recieved an injection of outside capital. With capital comes the expectation of growth and profit. They were very limited in both of those aspects while catering to a nitch market. The problem that I see is that they served the high end market, offering custom parts on already high end reels. That is where they have their name recognition and the bulk of their base. They are obviosly on a new mission to feed the masses. Will be interesting to see how they try to parlay this out. At face value, this is not a good thing for the enthusiest.
Re: ZPI Reel?
i was so excited. but then i scrolled down a few posts and saw a black Chinese manufactured Garbage 22903419234123498. Why? Why would i use a ZPI carbon handle on a reel that costs less than the handle itself?
This is so stupid ZPI.

Re: ZPI Reel?
Come on! How do you know, what is inside? ZPI good with spools and handles,we're knows...but in this reel more interesting is what is inside,-gears,bearings and rest. So,don't panic ,maybe we'll have a good reel ...hopefully ...just looking on my Z-Pride and prayingi was so excited. but then i scrolled down a few posts and saw a black Chinese manufactured Garbage 22903419234123498. Re: ZPI Reel?
Rod components? That could be exciting, though likely rebranded. Sunglasses and terminal tackle? Seems Zpi wants to get the name out to the masses on already existing gear.Polkfish1 wrote:Here’s a product video. Giant knobs.

A close look of that photo above of the gent smiling with the zpi reel mounted on a rod suggests a new ZPI full built rod by the graphic.Hogsticker2 wrote:Rod components? Re: ZPI Reel?
I dont think that's even feasable. Your Zpride is made by Shimano and super tuned by ZPI, of course its great. This is a Chinese manufactured reel made by some No Names with a ZPI logo on the reel. There is not even 0.1% chance of it being good when compared to "real" reels. It may only be "good" when compared to bottom of the barrel coffee grinders aka KastKing, Piscifun, Favorite and the rest.fffishing wrote:Come on! How do you know, what is inside? Re: ZPI Reel?
You guys wait, i bet they will charge $300+ for this abomination. This amount of money for a reel that is made on the side of your $25 KastKing. No thank you

Re: ZPI Reel?
So, what we have here is an elite company that makes supposed "top of the line" aftermarket reel parts, building reels from an OEM source? Can we say WTF?!

If this is true, ZPI will become a meme.cndbasshunter wrote:$300 i bet at least $500SSS wrote:You guys wait, i bet they will charge $300+ for this abomination. This amount of money for a reel that is made on the side of your $25 KastKing. No thank you
Re: ZPI Reel?
Based upon previous quality of ZPI products, I would give their reels a shot.
Re: ZPI Reel?
Their previous products were custom made in Japan. This is not that.Johnny A wrote:Based upon previous quality of ZPI products, I would give their reels a shot.
